Down in the Mire

Down in the Mire

A Poem by Caitlin Lea
"

There is a place that feels like home.

"

Down

Down in the mire,

There is

A place

That feels

Like home.

The rooms

Are empty

And I’m

All alone,

But, oh

How I love it"

I love

My home.

There is

Crying,

In my living room

Over  tainted

Spilled milk.

My curtains

Are appalling"

Cardboard

And silk.

But I’m not

Complaining,

My choice

Is in stone.

‘Cuz I really love it.

I love

My home.

When I

Get lonesome

Friends

Stop by.

They bring

Reproving

Pudding

And humble pie.

I am

The hostess"

A lovely lie.

Because they

Aren’t welcome

Here in my

Home.

Author's Note

Caitlin Lea
These are actually song lyrics. I have to melody and basic idea for accompaniment in my head, with no way to write it down or perform it. However, it kept going through my head, so I wrote it down.
