Gray's Tragedy

Gray's Tragedy

A Poem by Caitlin Lea
"

I turn my back on you....

"

You are

Locked

In my chest.

Piece by piece

I throw you

In the lake,

Hoping

The Dark Night

Doesn’t see--

Praying

The Sunrise

Doesn’t

Catch me.

I didn’t know

My deepest love

Would accidentally

Kill you.

I turn my back

On you--

You

Whose beautiful

Eyes

Painted me

Most truly.

They will

Find you,

But my

Monogram

Is gone.

My face

Is the same.

My concealment--

When you

Slipped beneath

Ambiguous waves,

So did I.
