The Game of LifeA Poem by Caitlin Lea
The pleasantries of noble kings
Are deceptions to the fools Who know the game And how to play And when to break the rules. The pharaoh will say many things To appease his angry gods For they are strong And never wrong But constantly at odds. A lady fair will cheer her knight With charms and looks and glances But he must know That she will go If won by another's lances. The pleasantries of noble kings Are from the lips of fools For life's a game That men must play And ultimately lose. © 2011 Caitlin Lea |
