Window Music

Window Music

A Poem by Caitlin Lea

The mini blinds
Are a staff
Through which loud chords
Of light play--

Their intervals cutting
Between lines and spaces.
Every good boy
Does fine,

But not
In the real world.
Only music's
Black ink blots

Insist upon this truth.
The chord that pulls
The plastic staff
Is a treble clef.

A treble clef.
A trouble clef.
The cleft of the rock.
Blessed be the rock.
