Collaborative Poem 1

A Poem by Caitlin Lea

It was
A faithless
Leap
He made

With tachyon
Speed.
He forgot
That life

Matters.
Fidelity
And despair
Were his

Inevitable
Soulmates.
We put on
Our yarmulkes,

Because they
Are all
We have now.
Our scrumptious

Plans are
Defenestrated
Like orange
Peels.

No one
Eats orange peels.
No one
Expects

A Snickers
To hit
The ground.
We are

Amazed
When our
Faith
Cannot hold

His life.

Author's Note

Caitlin Lea
This is a poem I wrote on Facebook. I asked people to give me one word to incorporate into a poem. After letting it sit overnight to give people time to respond, I wrote the poem. I had just heard about a young man I know committing suicide, and this poem ended up being about that. The words I had to use were: orange
tachyons
soulmates
scrumptious
amazing
Snickers
leap of faith
life matters
defenestration
yarmulke
fidelity
