Dawn

Dawn

A Poem by Caitlin Lea

It is

That white

Darkness

Penultimate

To morning,

And you

Are here.

Around us

The forest

Wraps its

Gnarls.

All is

Still.

You are

Behind me,

Arms like

Antique furniture.

My body

Is a sigh.

Wings

Flutter

Over my neck.

A sudden

Breeze"

“Sorry,

My hands

Are cold.”

A beam

Reaches

Over grey

Horizon.

My fingers

Are smooth

On your arms.

“No,

I like it.”

My head

Turns,

Trunk

Twists.

Your face

Glows"

I suddenly

Recognize

Dawn.

I seriously thought it was a person until the last stanza. Great personification.
