you are the impossible

you are the impossible

A Poem by caterpillar
"

oh mah goodness. it would appear i wrote a "heart poem." sighh.

"

you are the impossible
last drop stuck
insufferable sweet
inside the bottle.

you are the way my hair
stays wet for hours
no number of towel-dryings
gets you out
my head.

you are the ragged leaf
stumbling over entryways
and introductions
i am the misplaced chair
spilling teas, tripping
children.

you confuse words
"henna" for "hennessey"
and consequently pour cognac
all over your arms.

sundays always stretch
so longingly
and our legs, intrinsically
clumsy.

Author's Note

caterpillar
i kind of wanted each stanza to move choppily to the next, but don't think it's working effectively here. should i add a stanza? remove? reorder?

this took a couple reads, but i once i got the analogies down i really liked it. the choppiness worked well. but i don't know about this stanza...

you confuse words
"henna" for "hennessey"
and consequently pour cognac
all over your arms.

it's almost too blatant for this piece, since the rest of the story was more subtle.
