Best Friends

A poem written for my best girl friends in the world...

Friends come into our lives,

And just leave as they see fit.

But it’s those friends who,

In complete and total silence,

Will console us and, if needed,

For hours just sit.

 

Listening to each other breathe,

Because words are just too hard.

Or lending an ear for every word

We feel the need to vent,

Because life continues to bombard.

 

On our hopes and on our dreams,

And the emotions swirling in our heads.

It is our true friends in life,

Who sit, listen and remember,

Every word we yelled or even left unsaid.

 

Just because there are miles in between,

Our friendship ties can never be broken.

Even if there are days,

Or even weeks that go by,

Where only a few words are all that are spoken.

 

Even if it is as simple as a text,

Those few words are all we need to hear.

We know we are always there for each other,

Because distance only keeps best friends’ hearts

That much more near.
