Unwilling Cattle

Unwilling Cattle

A Poem by Not Afraid of Bruises
"

Someoen at my school said he had respect for me - I got the feelign that this was because I stick by my ideals/morals and because I am 'different'. His assumption that I do not 'follow the crowd" really hit home for me, and I know that my actions do

"

I am the gorilla-cow.
A species that relies on
outside encouragement
                        I am lost,
lonely
dysfunctional when on my own – unhealthy.

Rounded and squared
until I am dizzy with insecurities and confusion

and never having that
perfect-
American Dream
-life example

to guide
to lead
to form, shape my mind

and so I am less,
because I never learned

my growth is hindered by
what they know, except
accept and so I am numbered,
tied and chained.

Great piece you have here. It's a very strong message. You're there, you're saying it and if anyone has a problem with it well...screw them.
