voting process improv

genration of women

aging with botox

sucking, slicing their bodies

radio programs on delay

sex education hushed

statistics maniuplated

truth annihilated

majority of the public

too busy purchasing

working for

 

the American dream

to realize it's unobtainable

a far off mirage

from a past decade

fake, poisoned food

with aritificial color flavor

meat with hormones 

antibiotic traces in our water 

pharmaceutical happiness

weapons of mass destruction?

false hope- lottery ticket

bourbon, smack, meth

in the ghetto or the upper middle

class high school youth

(where fake moms deny this happens)

lies from the powers that be

recession?  what recession?

unrealistic ideals peddled

to distract the public

a slight of hand, once again

our government produces a

rabbit from its hat

in this transparent world...

I'm not sure how to review this one...except to say you have written a poem that touches on a lot of societal ills. My frustration with the idea of our problems being insurmountable is that what generation has not faced the same thing? Line by line...have we any idea what 'european society' was like a few hundred years ago? Of children shuffled to an underground world in Dublin? Of poverty so rampant that they lived of stolen bread, barely, then wound up with a few fingers detached for their efforts?

And we complain about a recession?

The problems are indeed daunting...with that I find much agreement with your poem.
