The End of the World: Part One

The End of the World: Part One

A Poem by Colleen Ann

The Earth is itchy.
The air reeks.
The soil seeks

A savior.

Buildings brace themselves.
While salt swells
engulf the ocean.

A depth-commotion.

Our brains--
worms pray
(on spouted knees).

Fostering disease.

To vaccinate land-sickness.
The angels are with us.
Dying in the streets

(blisters on their feet).

With weakened wings.
A warning.
It’s swarming.

As wise as we want.

The world is spawning
an open yawning.
To feed upon

Raw Star Power.

A quiet hour
to breathe and cower
in the presence of the Lord;

Mother Earth endures.

While we walk the wild
she constructs a child
from ash and ivory.

Honor and misery.

Second introductory.
We wash ourselves
and stack the shelves

with shotguns.
