The Hidden Utopia

The Hidden Utopia

A Poem by Marina

Beauty lies beneath
the sands
of the stone cold river
and under waves,
During a full moon
On a starry summer night
By the beach.

Beauty lies in the middle of
a jungle
by the spider's spiderwebs
and in the barks of dead trees.

Beauty lies
on the dark side of the moon,
and beneath the molten core
of the earth.

Beauty lies
a million miles away from here,
on a different planet
with alien creatures
and talking bunnies.

Beauty lies
in the flesh of a fish
and the stomach of a starving whale

Beauty lies
beneath the skies and in the tears
that babies cry.

It lies under the creaking steps
Of an abandoned tenement building,
on main street-
by the park.

It lies between
two lonely trees.
 In the shadows
that loom from corners,
beauty lies.

Beauty lies in
the puddles
of rainwater.

Between the cracks,
of a broken mirror,
lies beauty.

 Beauty lies,

not on the outside

but the inside.

Beauty hides...

where no one ever looks.

;D Sorry I haven't posted in a while.

I like constructive critisism.

The solar eclipse (new moon) represents everything that is hidden by other greater things of the world.

As the sun hides the moon.

Although the line cuts are very short and abrupt, the poem flows amazingly well. Every line speaks sounds fluent and contains so much truth. I like the positive outlook this poem has and the way it looks deeply into the core of mundane things just to define what beauty is. I just have one suggestion. I think this will sound better "Beauty lies,/not on the outside/but the inside." That way, it prevents the stanza from sounding too redundant.

Keep Writing. ^___^

Your Utopia is no longer hidden and sparkles for us as we read. Many poets try to
express beauty... you do it so well and so enjoyably we know how it matters to you.

I aboslutely adore this. Your poetry is brilliant. Your style reminds me of Sylvia Plath. Do you read any of her work? Anyhoo, this was great. I love how it flows! You did an excellent job here.

on the curve of the sky where the belt-o-venus dims from orange to red, a simple bed for the stars to lay at night -- sweet poem from a sweet-heart

I love the imagery! I had never thought about how many places beauty really does lie, and now, now,
I see it every were. in the sunrise were it's always been, in the shadows on my walls, in the curved body of my viola.
Beauty lies everywhere.
Beauty however, also lies.
