relationships

relationships

A Poem by A.T.B.

"you ignoring me?”

she asks with that tone

that says much more.

after a moment of silence

they couldn’t enjoy because

hours, days, weeks, months

of screaming and shouting,

insults and accusations

muffle their ears like cotton balls.

he slowly looks up from his paper

and with a look that says it all

he asks: “is that at all possible?”

as if on a cue, she turns on her heels

and walks out slamming the door.

he snaps his paper smooth

and keeps on reading.

he isn’t really reading.

he hasn’t been.

letters and words look

like trees from a speeding

car.

both are sad that so much

was wasted, and both

are happy that the future

is unknown and because it is

unknown it might just be different.

that pretty much sums up

everything for them.

ok... this is excellent. It is an well versed description of what goes on in many relationships. It has a consistent flow, doesn't lag but keeps the reader following it through until the end. perfection in poetic prose.
