Entry 10A Chapter by Morning Star Stories2000 hours May 16th 2007 Today was it, the final confrontation between the treacherous cokeliners and myself. To start the day we removed the 30 dead bodies from our trench and moved the 14 wounded to the sick bay. The attack had caught us off guard and that gas kills, it rarely injures. The covert war I was waging against the cokeliners had violence as a requirement. I had been fighting them all along from the cokeliner I stabbed during the counterattack to the one Hal iced yesterday. They were vicious they would have slowly devoured our entire battalion; their incompetence in battle is costing us lives. Anyway, tension rose to a boiling point all morning. Hal was finally out of the sickbay along with my PFC (Private First Class). Hal hated the cokeliners too they were the ones who spit on Nam vets and called the US Army “murderers.” Beside that fact, the war was increasingly getting deadlier and we didn’t even know it, the gas attacks, mortar attacks, and sandstorms had provided cover the Arabs needed to dig their trench. We expected an attack any day now. Back to today though, at about 1630 hours, Hal and I were resting outside. 3 cokeliners approached us they pushed me off an ammo crate I was sitting on and an one of them yelled, “Braddock, you murdering prick, you will kill us all, you government pet!” I got up and pushed the main cokeliner, Mond, back. We then got into an intense argument. After they said, “enjoy your slavery…I mean duty.” I lunged forward and punched Mond. A cokeliner drew his sidearm and fired a bullet that flew past my shoulder. Hal sprung up and fired a 3 round burst into the cokeliner’s head, killing him. In the struggle with Mond, I drew my Mauser pistol, we were fighting for it when we turned to the other cokeliner, I squeezed the trigger and iced him. After 2 minutes of struggle, I gave up on the gun and stabbed Mond in the back with my trench knife; he sunk to the ground dead. And that was it all the cokeliners were dead. Hal and I had lived and my enemy lay dead. © 2012 Morning Star Stories |
