Unfair World

Unfair World

A Poem by A.Lee

The sands just kept on trickling down

Falling steady through the glass

Hours turned to days, to weeks

With no concern for what has passed

How dare the clock continue ticking?

How dare the grass live on and grow?

How dare the world continue moving?

Why did the wind not cease to blow?

One month ago a light went dark

A steady beat forever silenced

A set of lungs refused to breathe

A little voice forever quiet

We’re told that memories suffice

Or that in time he’ll breathe again

But it’s the waiting in between

That turns the sun to endless rain

More than one heart stopped that day

It stands there frozen at the scene

Just yesterday my love was here

Just yesterday the grass was green

But time kept moving, so disloyal

A traitor to survivors grieving

Darkened glares against the clock

And I just stand there, disbelieving

So while the world remains in motion

I’ll stay where I saw him last

Ignore the racing minute hand

How dare the clock tick on so fast?

For just a while, I’m hiding here

Bathing in sweet memories

I still don’t want it to be real

So unfair world, don’t wait for me

Love this !! It's so well written and it is full of nostalgia and pain for a better time; a time the world would stay still !!

A very sad poem. Somethings we can't get over. I understand your emotion in this poem. Some pain leave us wishing for a better day. A very strong ending to a powerful poem. I hope you are Ok.

This is tragically beautiful, and I just want you to know that while you feel helpless right now, you are actually helping me with Camille because of your writing. I cant make my pen move these days and your writing is comforting because you take me there....thank you and God bless mama!

Love, this is wonderfully written and I know loss is never easy! And I know that is an understatement! All I can say is...I am thinking of you, hugs xx

Hey Angel,
The pain of loss comes in waves, in intense rushes of pain, and the sting never goes away; or so it seems. All the good intentions in the world don't stop the the grass from growing or the flowers from blooming in your memories of the boy or the garden he used to wonder at once upon a time. '
But it does get better in time, you just have to find it, in time. In the mean time give yourself a break and let it come out of you.

Sorry girl. Love S (BZ)
