Survive

Survive

A Poem by A.Lee

The damaged soul lies broken, beyond repair
It's been kicked and beaten, battered and bruised
It curls up tight, a tiny shell of what it once was
Yet it survives

Everything has been lost
Lover, friend, brother, and child all faded before tearful eyes
Slipping painfully through desperate fingers
Yet is survives

Nothing to see but eternal darkness
Nothing to feel but the pain of the fire burning, burning
The damaged soul searches for the one star in the sky
But it's not there

The world spins so fast it can't keep up
And all it yearns for is to fall asleep in a cradle of warm arms
Safe for once, loved for once
But the dream's just out of reach

Yet even as its dying, so terrified to breathe
It reaches out for something
Some intangible love
And it survives

Somehow, it survives...

It was a good write..I think I can possibly relate to it...because sometimes things survive and others don't make it...with the way the world is...with violence, murder....there are just people strong enough to survive others who can't...I think you did a really nice job on this piece. I liked it...thanks for sharing...
