Little Sister

Little Sister

A Poem by A.Lee

Oh please hurry over, brother

Little sister's lost her mind

Scattered papers line the floor

Her eyes, once lively, now stare blind

Oh please hurry over, sister

Little sister's fading fast

Her hands are frozen; she won't speak

Except the words "You're here at last."

We should have never left here lonely

Should have heeded what she said

But we believed that we knew best

Now little sister's nearly dead

We forgot to show her love

Although we told her she deserved it

We thought those words would be enough

But we forgot to reinforce it

Empty bottles, pills long gone

On repeat, her favorite song

A message for the ones who found her

"Now you notice, Little Sister."

Close the coffin slowly, brother

Sister, lay the rose with care

Little sister now lies sleeping

All because we were not there...

this was so touching and deep work, very sad write. i guess this really reflected how much we take some of our loved ones for granted.

This is a warning. It makes me feel concern about every relative
and friend I havent heard from in a while. It is a gift.

I know this story too well. I have put four brothers into graves. They left empty spots that can't be fulfilled. I learn now to be kind and gentle with my family because of their deaths. You create a sad story with a very sad ending. We need open doors and kind words of love for family and friends. A excellent poem.
