Little Sister

Little Sister

A Poem by A.Lee

Oh please hurry over, brother

Little sister's lost her mind

Scattered papers line the floor

Her eyes, once lively, now stare blind

Oh please hurry over, sister

Little sister's fading fast

Her hands are frozen; she won't speak

Except the words "You're here at last."

We should have never left here lonely

Should have heeded what she said

But we believed that we knew best

Now little sister's nearly dead

We forgot to show her love

Although we told her she deserved it

We thought those words would be enough

But we forgot to reinforce it

Empty bottles, pills long gone

On repeat, her favorite song

A message for the ones who found her

"Now you notice, Little Sister."

Close the coffin slowly, brother

Sister, lay the rose with care

Little sister now lies sleeping

All because we were not there...

Im very fond of this piece of work. It has a certain disregarded innocence , laced with an un-natural and unfair guilt. Defiantly a favorite of mine

Words of repentance…
Well written….
A nice feeling…
Wafts from the lines….
Which is a very touching blend of….guilt and love….

Very good job, light words but a very heavy meaning; excellent write!

absolutely loved those lines. this was very... catty! sad, mournful, but spite was sprinkled all over it. and sarcasm too.
definitely an interesting write!

Very sad and tragic. You wrote this wonderfully, pulling the reader in with the desperation and guilt for what happened to Little Sister. Outstanding write.

This is beautifully written, you put a lot into it and it shows. I like the repetition of the first two stanzas, they give the poem a great effect when reading it. :D

There is overwhelming sadness here.. A brilliant depth of psychological pain and angst. You sing a dirge of longing, wishing things had been different... but simply too late...
