Be Okay

Be Okay

A Poem by A.Lee

You lay there, head against your pillow

Clutching pictures in your hand

Instead of forcing blue thoughts out

You let them flood into your head

And when you feel so pale and lifeless

Close your eyes and reel in in

And you refuse to be okay

You refuse to be okay

You always end up as the victim

And though its never quite your fault

Its you that gives them the advantage

Lets them trip you, make you fall

And then you lie there, take the punches

No fighting back, no screams or calls

And you refuse to be okay

You refuse to be okay

But how, my dear, will you get better

When all you breathe in is the worst

Instead of bathing in the rain

You curl up right there in the dirt

How will you get better

When you never want to fight

You let them take you, battered, bruised

Until their anger fades, diffused

You don't have to be the scapegoat

Don't have to let those feelings win

Push back the shades, take one deep breath

Allow the sun to touch your skin

You don't have to be so helpless

Find the strength to brush them off

Don't you refuse to be okay

I promise, you can be okay..

wow. i think on some level i can relate to this. i know how frustrating it it to have someone we love give up on life, or look at it as a job they're tired of. sometimes it is, and we can see how to make it right, but i think it's times like those we gotta put ourselves in their shoes and ask 'is it really that easy to make it all better?'

anyway..
be okay. :)

It's frustrating to want to help someone see the light. They won't see it until they're ready for it. Nicely said.

Your words are inspiring.

It amazes me that there are so many people that attract bad luck. Is it them and the way they think and live, were they born under a bad sign. One thing is for sure is that it is synergistic, once you get into that rut, you have a hard time getting out. Great write. makes me think.
