Cold

Cold

A Poem by A.Lee

Pale white fingers, pale white toes
Rosy cheeks and ice-tipped nose
Goosebumps lining once smooth skin
Shivering lungs breathe cold air in

Blinded by fresh ice on lashes
As the world surrounding crashes
Frostbite lurks in howling wind
Warmth seems a forgotten friend

Outcast in the frigid air
No room left to hope or care
Even snow friends built nearby
Soon melt away with no good-bye

Chilly heart beats slower, slower
Mercury drops lower, lower
Wrapped up tight, but can't stay warm
Frozen by this arctic storm

Red ice forms in frozen veins
Cold blue lips won't speak the names
Of those who left her standing there
Naked in the icy air

The poem has such a sad feel to it; a feeling made even more prevalent by a vague but chilling (lol) underlying story. It makes the world sound so lonely, depressing, and indeed cold. Great piece. :)

Oh wow this was great. The ending is absolutely perfect, the lead up is great too, making the ending even more valuable. Nicely written with a great flow. Good write.
