Hey You

Hey You

A Poem by A.Lee

Hey you

With your strong arms wrapped round me so tight

You who would hold me through my darkest nights

The one with the smile that melted my heart

Who’s embrace could keep me from falling apart

Hey you

The protector of those who are weak

You whose warm hands helped back to my feet

You could capture my heart with the kind things you said

And the way that you kept me from bleeding bright red

Hey you

Who would dance through the most random places

You whose light shone in the darkest of spaces

The person I would have done anything for

The one who I couldn’t have helped but adore

Hey you

With the beautiful eyes staring through me

You who once said that you would always love me

The one who I knew I could always draw close to

When breaking apart seemed to be all I could do

Hey you

Who I had to push gently away

Because things went crazy and I was afraid

You who held my hand to the very last moment

When the remedies we had been trying were spent

Hey you

Who I’m trying so hard to get back to

But the curtain stays closed so that I just can’t get through

And it probably seems like I’m not even trying

But it’s only for your sweet attention I’m vying

Hey you

Who I see in the back of my mind

Who’s shadow keeps haunting me all of the time

You with the heart made of gold that I sought

The one who I left but I never forgot

Oh, I love this....very, VERY good job, especially the last stanza, that's my favorite part I think...
(A friendly grammar tip though, haha, who's=who is; I think the word your looking for is whose)
Really, though, this is awesome. You're writing always has good rhythm and flow, and the points you make and emotions you express are excellent as well. Keep writing! :)

This is very spiritual to me. I like the repetitive structure.

Hey girl,
Once again you've reached down into my soul and pulled out the situation I find myself in, like that old Dylan song "she read a poem from the fifteenth century ... like it was written in my soul from me to you; tangled up in blue..."
I hope you're doing well my dear. BZ

A poem with a powerful and sad story. Love seem to begin like a wild fire then we allow the disappointments to blind us and create walls. Your poem is common to most people. Easy to find love. When we lose it. Hard to bring back. A very good ending to a excellent poem. Great description and story in your words.

It sounds a lot like a song. I feel honored to be let into
this corner of your mind.
