Chalice

Chalice

A Poem by A.Lee

Broken
The crystal chalice in a million pieces
On the floor
The tiny shards slipped through the cracks
In your rage
You knocked it from its guarded shelf
Without a care
Destroyed its delicate design
You told her once
That she meant more than precious silver
That you would give
Your life to stay there by her side
Just a lie
You waited til she grasped your bait
Then pulled her down
Enjoyed her pain and watched her cry
In due time
You'll put your chalice back together
Though she'll forgive
The cracks will still remain behind

It'a an amazing metaphor, and speaks volumes, and can be applied to so many angles of thought, about life itself, about a relationship, about politics, i really enjoy the way you leave the specifics open to interpretation, the imagery

of the fragile chalice speaks the heart of the piece, sayng the subject is
delicate and can be easily broke if carelessly treated, but is valuable when
showing how well it decorates the drink that sustains the metaphor, or the

appeal, you've also captured the flavor of sentiment with a caring sense
of attribute set to assertion. this is a brilliant poem, keep it up

This poems says so much more about the heart breaker than the usual.
The metaphor you've put together here is magnificent. I really enjoyed it.

That's interesting. Normally people do this style of poem using a heart but this was very interesting. I enjoyed it. I thought the flow was off but it was a great concept.

Strong piece with great description. Broken glass can be fit back together, but never the same as it originally was. Same with relationships. Folks need to be careful. Great conveyence of emotion here.

You can only break the chalice so many times and then she'll finally leave if she's still alive. A very dark and painful poem based on so many people's reality. Very nicely done.

Great piece.. I felt as though the comparison was a bit cliche, but being what it was, you made it work. Great ending lines.. very powerfully phrased.

Nice job. c:
