Sweet Memory

Sweet Memory

A Poem by A.Lee

I can't explain
Why your face is haunting me
Why I can feel your tight embrace
When you're not here

You're just a memory
Of a love that's long since passed
Yet I can see you, hear you, touch you
In my dreams

I heard the words
You used to say so long ago
I felt your heartbeat
Laid my head against your chest

I felt my tears
Form salty puddles on your shirt
Watched you smile and pull me close
Like you always did

Then I woke up
You disappeared with no good-byes
Left naught behind but empty space
And an aching heart

And now my tears
Break on the floor because you're gone
And yet you're here.. haunting me
Sweet memory

You have a way of putting words into play with the descriptions you use so effortlessly. This speaks to me about my exes and those I love even now. I love how it flowed. I really enjoyed this.

Awe this was sad, but cute. I know how you feel though. I dream about my ex-boyfriend sometimes. Our relationship was really cute. That is why I can remember it. He took me to the prom when I was freshmen. He gave me a beautiful red rose that day. We had kissed more than once that night. We danced together. It was cute though. I still love him as a friend. Recently he wrote me a song and played it and put it on youtube for me. I really enjoyed this piece though. Thanks for sharing. :)

Love this one. Just a beautiful write. The emotion and feelings of loneliness just pour off the page.

There is cruel irony in the words 'sweet memory'. It is a bitter-sweet remembrance. This is a very sad poem, and the words are tenderly lilting like a dying flower. It brings home the tragedy of a fond memory - in the fact that it is also painful because it is a memory, and therefore the trace of something good which is no longer around; it has been lost forever. There is a distant, misty feel to this piece, which delicately echoes the obscure poignancy of loss with a definite but light touch.

Very strong and open piece. Heartbreaking. Sometimes I wish we could just erase parts of our memories. Life might be easier that way. A wonderful write.

the memory felt bitter because of the pain
but sweet because of the love etched in your heart
