Kindred HeartsA Poem by A.Lee
I was lost and so alone
A little child trapped inside You found me reaching for a heart To form a kindred bond with mine At first I only hatred knew No father's hugs; no mother's love Covered it all with a smiling facade When really peace was so far off You were the first to show me something I had yearned for all my life The unconditional loving warmth That helped me ease my pain and strife You showed me that I did belong Then taught me ways to learn and grow And if I somehow never met you How I'd survive, I do not know I wish you knew how much it means How all the things you do and say Have burrowed deep within my heart And helped me through my darkest days You have me hope I never had And made the scriptures words ring true Though mom and dad may turn away I've finally gained them back in you And as I write this little poem I know it doesn't say enough And even if I wrote forever I could not repay your love For you mean more than words can say You've helped me more than you could know You watered me, a damaged seed And through your kindness I have grown © 2010 A.LeeAuthor's Note
