Imprisoned

Imprisoned

A Poem by A.Lee

So lost, so hopeless, and so alone

The bright world hid beneath a veil

Fingers spread wide never feel a thing

Unable to find her way in a foreign land

Spinning in circles, blind and naked

Confusing an already fading mind

Rendered helpless, she collapsed in the dust

Head spinning, breath stolen, heart racing

Noises rushing past her ears
Sounds of impending danger near

“Spin me ‘round again, my love”

She plunges into the deep

Told countless times she’ll never win

She finally accepts the fact

Hiding desires to throw off the blindfold

Lost in the dark, too scared to see

A savior standing at the window

Calls her name from time to time

Warm hands reach to break her chains

The step towards peace, afraid to take

So hopeless, so lost, and so alone

She hides the world behind its veil

Imprisoned in a mind long lost

Afraid the light will be her snare

It's amazing how a person can suffer to the point where they are afraid of happiness. It's a nightmare to see a person become jaded enough to accept this kind of pain as their life. Humanity naturally fears the unknown. Its a shame when the unknown is peace. I found an amazing depth in this poem. You really poured your heart into this one.

Great description here. Definitely a conveyence of despair. Your last line is very insightful. Seems a lot of folks are afraid of the light... which is likely just what they need. Well done.

Good write. Great expression of emotion and the visuals bring the reader in. Feelings of desperation, being lost. This is a great piece maybe a little restructure for idk, maybe nothing needed.

Good description and imagery in this piece. I like the rhythm and the flow. Dark and intriguing. You did a great job with expressing the senses. Good poem.

This is so depressing... I feel like a "Prisoner of Chillon" trapped in dungeon with Lord Byron...don't know whether to shoot him or shoot myself...at least the suffering would end one way or another. Going to look for a rope to hang myself now.
