Servant Girl

Servant Girl

A Poem by A.Lee

Look down, love, here I am
Kneeling low before your feet
This lady's here for all you need
To hold you up when you are weak

I try not to walk in front of you
So as not to block your way
I stand beside you, loyal servant,
Keep those with bad intent at bay

I'm a pedestal for your feet
When you're too weary to stand alone
No matter if hurt, or tired, or sore
For its your place that I call home

Look down, love, here I am
Fighting to do all that you ask
Putting myself aside as best I can
Covering me up with an iron mask

I'm a pillar for you to lean on
Whenever things for you get rough
And though I try so very hard
It seems I'm never good enough

I don't know how to make you see
That for your smile, I'd give my all
Your lady is ready to sacrifice
Herself to break your fall

Look down, love, here I am
Kneeling low beneath your feet
Giving everything I have
In hopes you'll someday notice me

This is rather painful and sad. The woman giving her all and never being noticed for it. A powerful write and I like it.

Another beautiful piece. I love the line "Look down, love, here I am." It seems so often we do give our all to so many, but yet they don't bother to acknowledge. Well done.

A gentle and beautiful poem. I don't know what a Servant woman would feel? The feel of this poem is of a willing and content woman willing to take care of someone very lucky. A outstanding poem.

Nicely structured hon, this is a beautiful poem
This is a heart that gives, time to receive!

Great piece- each stanza is simply stated, just laid out, but carries a great deal of emotion behind it. The only thing, *hope* in the last line. Excellent job. :)

absolutely awesome, and i agree with Zeitgeist_Manifesto. rest assured, your sacrifices are never in vain. we really take people like maids, butlers and such for granted, and always forget what they do for us. so touching

This type of loyalty should be rewarded with the entire world. It hurts to see it not be enough. It's a sad thing to see a person of such dedication surrender their individuality for a life they understand is bigger than themself, to be forced to sacrifice even more through an environment of dehumanization. I can't believe that some people believe that this seemingly nonexistent display of commitment is their right by birth. I was sincerely touched. This poem has given me a message to evaluate my life and make sure the people that support me receive my appreciation for them being there. Thank you for this wisdom.
