Servant Girl

Servant Girl

A Poem by A.Lee

Look down, love, here I am
Kneeling low before your feet
This lady's here for all you need
To hold you up when you are weak

I try not to walk in front of you
So as not to block your way
I stand beside you, loyal servant,
Keep those with bad intent at bay

I'm a pedestal for your feet
When you're too weary to stand alone
No matter if hurt, or tired, or sore
For its your place that I call home

Look down, love, here I am
Fighting to do all that you ask
Putting myself aside as best I can
Covering me up with an iron mask

I'm a pillar for you to lean on
Whenever things for you get rough
And though I try so very hard
It seems I'm never good enough

I don't know how to make you see
That for your smile, I'd give my all
Your lady is ready to sacrifice
Herself to break your fall

Look down, love, here I am
Kneeling low beneath your feet
Giving everything I have
In hopes you'll someday notice me

This poem really makes you feel sorry for the woman who is narrating. It is true that love humbles ys in a way nothing else ever could.

This piece reminds me of the song "Wind Beneath My Wings." I like them both; you know we played this song at my aunts funeral; it is often that those who mean the most to us do not get their do props until they are gone.

Great Work!

This poem is great, it shows how one locks themselves away to make others happy. How they give up what they want in order to help another who rarely notices them. I love this poem

Wow…..
A very strange and rare theme…..
Self effacing tendancy..…..
Can it be portrayed with this much authenticity..?
Great….

ahhhhh....this is the plot line of how many period novels put nicely into a couple dozen lines. I like the subject matter and the images you painted of the pitfalls of servitude, from both angles. Nice job sweet.
