Line In The Sand

Line In The Sand

A Poem by A.Lee
"

those unreachable goals....

"

There’s a line drawn in the sand

Its nearly half way down the road

Its not too far and its not uphill

But never can I get close

I’ve yearned to reach it all my life

To finally gain your love

But every time I’m almost there

You quickly give me a shove

You move the line so far away

That its nearly out of sight

Then fold your arms across your chest

“Just when will you get it right?”

I shake my head in such despair

As I chase impossible dreams

Dreams you hate that I don’t fulfill

Yet make sure I will never reach

I like the structure to this one
A very intensely emotional hit!

The term "you always hurt the ones you love" comes to mind here. The flow here is great. no patterend rhyme, but it flows incredibly well for a poem that has no rhyme. Good job*

A interesting poem. Sometime i do believe we do block the important people in our life path from success. We need to stay positive and hopeful to keep our mates content too. A excellent poem.

Hmm, this was a really thought-provoking write! I liked the whole idea of the line drawn in the sand, and how you built the whole poem around that single idea. The last stanza really spoke to me, particularly the line 'As I chase impossible dreams'. It made me think about the fact that as humans, we all seek for more than existance, yet it's hard to say how many of our hopes and dreams we'll actually be able to fulfil. I wouldn't say that this is your best write, but it is solid, and the emotion is there, as always. :)

It may not be anything special in your eyes but there are a lot of people out there that this speaks to. It's an amazing piece. You truly are an amazing writer

This was very good. I always say when a poem is either something I can see or feel from the words or something that I can relate to, it is a good poem. And this one I can relate and I know these feelings. Wish I didn't, but the past is so good at never wanting to die, especially when the present gives it breath enough to birth new life. Excellent write.

I got the feeling of someone trapped in a bad relationship who never does anything the way the abuser wants so the emotional and physical abuse just go on and on because its impossible to please those types of people. It gave me quite a chill reading the words of your poem.

Good write. Gave me images of a child trying to appease an adult, then images of young woman trying to do whatever makes her significant other happy.

Beautifully profound, taking us into the experience of loving at a distance... Such a longing, yet always unfulfilled. Your words are so bittersweet.
