Misused

Misused

A Poem by A.Lee

I heard you say you love me

But that’s not what I see

You’ve stolen my heart

And ripped it in two

Then you try to comfort me

You wonder why I hate you

Why I always feel so blue

But you don’t consider

The part you play

The horrid things you do

You’re not quite so innocent

But I know you won’t admit it

Your moves are just

Your counsel wise

There’s no need for your repentance

And yet you say its me you love

That I’m some gift sent from above

But you just misuse

To get your way

Because that’s all you think of

I want it all to be okay

To keep these feelings far at bay

But I don’t know how

To balance this out

As it all falls out of place

I could feel the anxiety and pain that can fill a relationship gone wrong. Could relate too well to the confusion, and see so many others wandering in and out of these painful places. Excellent write.

This really speaks of being in a painful or abusive relationship were one person must submit to the will of another. Very well written. I think the title works on this because that is what is happening in your poem.

this is another very well written poem, i feel emotions about a person not returning the love, sad, but to the point

I think this well-written poem delves into a part of the relationship psyche that is more complex and subtle than many people realise. I like the way it is phrased, sort of half-poetic-half-vernacular and is all fluid off the tongue. There is always an unfair imbalance within a love shared that people do not want to admit, nor face, but it is always there. Strong for one in one area, weak for the other in another.
As for the title, I actually think you have it spot on...

I like the title. The story is about people who take and don't return the love and kindness. The description and story was strong. Sometime best to run. Can't teach old dog new tricks. A excellent poem.

I read this poem and It did provoke thought. It posed an interesting question.

If a person convinced you that you were their angel... that you were heaven sent..would you be bound to a spirit of forgiveness towards that person?

I saw some flashes of that question here and there in your words. I'd never thought about it like that before. You are very intelligent. You always seem to put my imagination to work. There is a truth and human experience in the words.
