War Of The Night (part 2)

War Of The Night (part 2)

A Poem by A.Lee
"

part two

"

The light streams through her window

As she opens up her eyes

Once again she made it through
She begins to realize

She stands up looks around

Sees the scratches in the wall

The places where her nails dug deep

While she was trying not to fall

Her eyes feel swollen to the touch

From the tears she shed last night

But she shakes it off and prays in thanks

That she didn’t lose the light

Today she will do better

She makes a silent vow

She’ll build a wall so strong, so high

The dark won’t hurt her now

But when the night begins to fall

And rears its head again

She learns no wall is high enough

To save her from this pain

So day by day she gathers light
And stores it in her heart
Although she won't win every fight
She won't be torn apart

Author's Note

For those who have read my poem 'War Of The Night' I said that I couldn't decide on an ending for it, so today I decided to play around with a few different endings and see if I could come up with something I liked. If not, I'll just leave it as is. This is the first one I came up with.

For inner strength and strong heart.
Will keep her safe.

Here my ending. Poem is powerful. You create a story with strength and purpose. We must overcome much to become strong people. A excellent poem.

this was sensational. so down to earth in the beginning, but ends up profound. loved these lines...

"So day by day she gathers light
And stores it in her heart
Although she won't win every fight
She won't be torn apart'

this was true poetry from the heart. what lovely thoughts here.

I think this can stand on its own. I think you did a great job on how it feels the next morning after one of those awful nights.

The morning. This is a good start on an old theme. It is just like the light of Galadriel!

Cattie I like this ending. I think you capture the morning after that kind of night very well. That is exactly how I feel on those mornings and how those nights feel too.

I loved the other part of the poem as it was, but I also love this part too. Very very good write. You could leave them as two seperate poems (part 1 and part 2) even and they would work perfectly. Again very good write. Thanks for sharing.
