War Of The Night (part 2)

War Of The Night (part 2)

A Poem by A.Lee
"

part two

"

The light streams through her window

As she opens up her eyes

Once again she made it through
She begins to realize

She stands up looks around

Sees the scratches in the wall

The places where her nails dug deep

While she was trying not to fall

Her eyes feel swollen to the touch

From the tears she shed last night

But she shakes it off and prays in thanks

That she didn’t lose the light

Today she will do better

She makes a silent vow

She’ll build a wall so strong, so high

The dark won’t hurt her now

But when the night begins to fall

And rears its head again

She learns no wall is high enough

To save her from this pain

So day by day she gathers light
And stores it in her heart
Although she won't win every fight
She won't be torn apart

Author's Note

A.Lee
For those who have read my poem 'War Of The Night' I said that I couldn't decide on an ending for it, so today I decided to play around with a few different endings and see if I could come up with something I liked. If not, I'll just leave it as is. This is the first one I came up with.

Very positive write. I think this is how everyone should bear such attitude, never to give up to the darkness when there's light to reach. Good write. Thanks for sharing.

In style, this continuation of the first part of the poem is equally as good. This is the light side. The positive after the negative. I think you should put the two pieces together to make a whole and then we can see how it comes together as an epic. I think it will be an opus.

PS. The title is aptly chosen and builds the mind up for the coming verses. I'm quite passionate about titles and this rates highly.

This is wonderful. Wow, it definitely brings closure to the story in both poems. The last stanza was great. It expressed a powerful drive to continue, to fight through the darkness. Excellent. Just excellent.

I agree that both poems stand well on their own, and you could just label them out as part 1 and part 2.

I think it would make a good ending, but this and War of the Night can certainly stand on their own. I'm glad a positive, though realistic ending came to mind for you. You did a great job with both of them.
