Don't Tell Me

Don't Tell Me

A Poem by A.Lee

You think you can solve my problems

When you can’t even solve your own

You know better how to parent these children

Than the mother who brought them home

You smile at me so happily

Pretending everything’s perfectly fine

Telling me what I can or can’t do

Because my feelings are no longer mine

I feign a smile through gritted teeth

As you tell another joke

I guess you’re just too blind to tell

I’m really just sick of you folks

You say you want me to grow and learn

But you’re hindering my skill

By interrupting my train of thought

And making me hold still

Don’t tell me how to live my life

Don’t tell me what not to do

When you’ve never taken a moments time

To listen to my view

You can’t ask me to move faster

When you keep on holding me back

You want me to go in your direction

And then wonder why things are off track

Don’t think you can solve my problems

When you can’t even solve your own

I know better how to parent my children

You can leave your advice at home

I know this one isn't very good. I just wrote it because I was really ticked off. I'm going to revise it later and make it into something nice :)

erm.. isn't very good..? this is the best you've ever written! it was passionate, the rhyming was perfect and it was filled with emotion. the best part was that i felt like i could understand everything you were going through.
stop saying this wasn't very good. in my opinion it was brilliant.
i'd suggest separating it into a couple of stanzas. otherwise... a really great write. the ending was so nice and strong.
