Awaken My Heart

Awaken My Heart

A Poem by A.Lee

Your warm inviting eyes

They hold the key to my very soul

Days, months, and years go by

But the grip you have on me stays whole

You captured my heart in a moment of time

I finally felt complete

You’re love, your care, your hopeful smile

You swept me off my feet

Your love was almost too much to bear

I made a decision all too fast

You and I got swept away

Because I was sure it couldn’t last

But I can still see your beautiful face

Your gorgeous colored eyes

I can still feel the warmth of your skin

As you placed your hand over mine

You held me close when I needed a friend

And to this day you’ve never left

No, I walked away for reasons untold

Thinking I knew what was best

Yet every time you come around

My heart just leaps for joy

My knees go weak the moment you speak

Oh God, you beautiful boy

I dont know how I still love you
Even when I've found someone new
Although I'm happy where I am
My thoughts still turn to you

It’s burning love I can’t turn aside

Even as days stretch on to years

And I can’t understand why after so much time

Your song my heart still hears

Not my favorite.... Once again, I wasn't intending to rhyme it just kind of came out that way. Thought given to me by a friend.

I think we all feel these sentiments to varying degrees. This is a great subject to write on. Beautifully stated and heartfelt. I can tell you that these feelings stay with you and surface from time to time.

I love this poem. You have done a great job. Bittersweet is what it is and you've captured it so nicely. I'd like to say every woman should have a memory like this but really it is too painful isn't it?
Keep going you have a knack for capturing emotion

This is another great poem. Don't apologize for your rhyming when it works it works. The flow was right on, the message well conveyed. Great job again.

Very nicely written, the rhyme is natural, not forced at all. I don't really care either way if a poem rhymes or not as long as it's well written and not forced then to me it's a good write, well of course as long as the poem itself is good. This one was definitely great! I can completely relate to it as well which makes it all the better. When you the writer can relate to your readers there is nothing better at least in my opinion. Overall it was an excellent write, with a lot of emotion. Keep it up! KUDOS TO YOU! :) 100/100
