The Pen

The Pen

A Poem by A.Lee
"

for the worst poem contest

"

It was almost a perfect day

The trees would dance and sway

But deep inside the woods

Lived a guy who had the goods

He wanted to be a poet

So he’d sit and scribble a bit

When he’d finally completed his lines

He saw some disturbing signs

The sky turned all cloudy and gray

And washed all the good things away

So he climbed inside a tree like a squirrel

As the wind gave the tree a great big hurl

The tree flew far across the land

And landed in the desert sand

The poet was glad

He wasn’t sad

Because he still had his pen in his hand

So he could dig right out of the sand

He dug and he dug crawling out of the hole

And then sipped some water from out of a bowl

So writing ended up saving his hide

Because without that pen he would have died

This was a great piece! It was an adorable little story, probably something I would have written. I'm not the best writer in the world when it comes to rhyming :) I don't think any writer can write bad, no matter how bad/good they really are!
I loved the little story line! LOVED this piece

I thought it was good actually....especially the little storyline going on. I would like to see you take the rhyming out and turn into a poem that you didn't purposefully try to make bad. It has some great imagery and a nice light touch.

Entertaining write, enjoyable read! I'm a huge fan of poetry with endings interpreted through morals of surprise. The moral to this humorously and poetically written piece..."Always keep your pen handy as a writer, because someday it may just save your a*s and perhaps your sanity too. Although, I must admit you put it together much more gracefully...lol Nice Job!

T.P. flows & builds to a perfectly glorious ending.. Some VERY fun visuals
through out... I loved the ending line for it's humor but profound meaning...
I don't know if I would live as gloriously without writing.. Of course I
write on the computer but I know the Pen can be taken figuratively ...
Well, maybe not ... I can't see using a computer to dig oneself out..
then again, why not.. Hee Hee ...100% poetry!!
