Abandonment

Abandonment

A Poem by A.Lee

We started out as the best of friends

There were hours and hours of time we’d spend

Carnivals and late night talks

I gave you my feelings, my heart in a box

Then slowly things began to change

As the night sky fades our bond does too

Abandoned again, left estranged

We only talk when its convenient for you

Pushed aside again and again

You leave me to sit and wonder when

Instead of simply telling me why

You leave me alone, my heart to die

It hurts to see you smile at me

Seeing how far gone we are

You only come for the emergency

Or to talk on the phone from afar

And even when the need is dire

You come begrudgingly, like there’s no fire

As if I called you just to see

If you would come to rescue me

If you’re supposed to display such love

Why do I feel discarded?  Pushed aside?

As if I’ve become the blackened dove

And all you’re doing is trying to hide

I thought I’d gotten over crying

Over all of these people lying

Abandonment is my foremost fear

You know that, yet you never appear

Maybe you’re simply protecting you

Meaning I’m no good, they all were right

I’m nothing but gum under someone’s shoe

No matter how hard I try, it won’t be alright

I don’t know how to cope with this

The only hope I had no longer exists

So I’m stuck here alone trying to breathe

Wishing you didn’t decide to leave

Ooooo, quite adventurous. Your word choice painted a clear picture and provided a very intricate atmosphere. Excellent job!!!

Extremely sad - a good poem, but one I wish we none could relate to. The writer is very exposed and exposure makes people uncomfortable and then defensive. That is what this poem is all about to me. More than once we are the victims or the perpetrators and in either circumstance the situation hurts the heart. Well written and well out

effing hell!!!!! sorry for that! but its like... its like... its like BRILLIANT.
I can totally relate and you make the most complicated feelings so easy to understand in this poem. i am blown away.

if this was something that you really went/are going through, then you know what hun? you have to move on and leave him behind. i went through the same thing once, it was horrible, but i held on because of the sweeter moments that sometimes made an appearance. but you have to realize, that life is meant to be lived and not meant to spent waiting. '

Go out there and take command of your life. I'm telling you through experience, never wait for someone to change. its not worth it.

again i will say - this was a truly unbelievable write and is going straight to my FAVOURITES!

a big hug,
not your typical girl.

Your poem is powerful and very sad. It is hard to pick your self up when we are knock down. The description was very good. I could feel the disappointment and sadness. A excellent poem.

You sure got talent, I will say that. It is hard to right with emotions and be poetic at the same time but you accomplished that. Keep on writing. I hope you feel better and hope you will find a true friend. Ethan
