Dance

Dance

A Poem by A.Lee

Dance

She sits on the dance floor

Hugging her legs to her chest

She wears her pink tights and leotard

But doubts her ability to succeed

Breathing in, breathing out

Arms in second, pirouette, back to fourth

This is her only dream

To dance away her heartache

A shining star across the stage

The teacher calls

She's placed in front at the start

Her self-confidence rises

Breathe in, breathe out

The music starts and she's carried away

Led by the sound of drums and guitar

Emotions flow out of every part of her body

As she dances to this sacred tune

She's achieved her goal for today

For just another moment, everything is okay

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. I love the flow of this piece, as well as the imagery. I would, however, suggest breaking this up into stanzas, at least for the "Breathe in, breathe out" as it would make the repetition more effective. Overall, a wonderful piece. Great job!

Now, this poem; well, I really, really like. I love the last line; after all of the worry and anticipation, everything is o'kay! How many times, in life, we have to suffer the fear of some possible upcoming rejection, in our minds. Then, the moment of truth comes and we amaze ourselves, as well as others. Sometimes, we can be our own worst critic. I am housing this in my library, for when I feel this way, again.

I love this! I really like the "breathe in, breathe out" part because it's so true. When we or at least I stress out or get nervous breathing in slowly and out slowly really helps. I like that you showed a little vulnerability in the girl and then at the end she succeeds. Great poem...very well written! :)

Poem is beautiful. We can find peace in our dreams. You took me with a strong story to a place of hope and dreams. I like the ending. The poem is outstanding. Thank you.
