Running

Running

A Poem by cRaYoNs sTaLk mE
"

"I have to run." "Everything is pitch black," "But I keep running."

"

Running.

All I can do is keep running.

I can’t see what’s ahead,

Everything is pitch black,

But I keep running.

I have to run.

I can’t stop.

If I do I will be lost,

The darkness will consume me.

I run as fast as I can,

My legs screaming in pain,

My heavy panting,

My heart racing,

But I keep running.

I want to stop,

I want to,

No, need to rest.

But I will not stop.

I keep on running.

“Where am I running to?”

I asked myself as I slowed down.

But I did not stop.

I don’t know what is there.

But I keep running.

I keep racing,

But I know I will never get there,

It is impossible after all,

A race with no end,

But I only run faster.

I’m chasing that finish line,

But it keeps getting farther away.

I don’t know what’s on the other side,

Of that finish line,

But I still keep running.

I keep running,

I’m running to the future,

I’m running from the past,

But it seems I can’t escape,

The present.
