God's CreekA Story by ByroneusGod’s Creek Over Memorial Weekend I went kayaking down the creek on my parents land. The creek traveled through the back part of their land winding through a swamp ful off Black Willows and Red Twig Dogwood. While kayaking I noticed how a beaver had flooded out the area around the creek; this got me to thinking of how it relates to us as Christians and are lives. In the flooded out area there were many paths that I had the choice to take, they lead to different locations but none went back to the creek and my destination (downstream) and some lead to trouble. This is just like are lives as Christians, we have many paths and choice to make and just like the creek a lot of them don’t lead back to the God or our destination and some even lead to trouble like the flooded out area. As Christians are path is the narrow path Jesus talked about and our destination is Eternal life with Jesus. When I went down some of these paths in the flooded area they would show me many sights but all lead to dead ends where I would have to turn around and go up stream to get back to the creak. Paths in our lives do this also, we might see many views but you have to turn around and make the struggle back to where we want to be, and if we get stuck we have to rely on God to help us out. The creak had a lot of difficult spots I had to navigate; from downed willows, to dams made by the beaver. In life we have a lot of challenges to face where we must rely on God to guild us through, the Devil likes to block our path like the beaver blocked the creak by building dams. On my trip down the creak there were a lot of things to see and distract me, as Christians we have a lot of distractions also that keep us from God and we need to be careful with them that they don’t stop us from following him. The flooded creak was not all a bad thing it was great to relate to life and also to see our land from a different view and also witness what beavers can do. On my trip I saw the beaver swimming along and not to degrade the beaver but to use him as an analogy he was to the land as the devil is to our lives. He was stopping the flow of the creak and the devil like him tries to stop our walk in Jesus. When the beaver floods the land he destroys life in ways, for example drowning plants, flooding homes, taking away food sources, and changes the look of the land; the devil does this in our lives, he kills our spirits connection with Christ, destroys are bodies by getting us addicted to things, keeps us from the food of life (bible) and changes our personality and in some cases our body (with drugs, addictions). We become different people, selfish, lost, an d cruel. We need to with the help of the Holy Spirit stay on the narrow path and stay in the word like when I stayed on the main creak and not getting lost in the flooded out area. Remember that God wants you to be his so he will always try to put you back on the narrow path, just don’t resist him © 2014 Byroneus |
