California Rebels

California Rebels

A Poem by byronabelband

(A)WELL I LEFT WYOMING WITH THAT (E)CHIP ON THAT SHOULDER OF
(A)MINE. I GOT TO ARIZONA, IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF (E)TIME
TILL I WAS (A)PUSHED OUT, SHOVED OUT, RATTED OUT, THEY
FOUND OUT, THE (D)SHOTGUNS CAME OUT, THE JUDGE PUT A BOUNTY OUT
THEY (A)CALLED ME A REBEL COZ I (E)NEVER COULD FOLLOW IN (A)LINE

WELL I HEARD IT ON THE VINE CALIFORNIA WOULD DO ME JUST FINE
I GOT MY WESTCOAST KICKS MAKING MUSIC WITH NEW FRIENDS OF MINE
HEAVY METAL, PUNK ROCK, HILLBILLY, ELECTRIC SHOCK
THAT CALIFORNIA SOUND ITS NEVER EVER GONNA STOP
THEY CALLED US REBELS COZ WE NEVER COULD FOLLOW IN LINE

AH, TWENTY YEARS LATER, SOUNDS ARE STILL COMMING OUT OF L.A.
WAY DOWN SAN DIEGO, ALL THE WAY NORTH OF THAT BAY
YOU GOT METTALICA, GUNS AND ROSES, HARD KNOX, GREEN DAY
GREATFULL DEAD, MOTLEY CRUE THOSE BOYS ARE HERE TO STAY
THEY CALLED US REBELS COZ WE NEVER COULD FOLLOW IN LINE
