Safe

Safe

A Poem by Unclouded Eyes

The walls keep growing higher

Keeping me safe or choking me out

Like the little pink flowers that used to grow

They were nice to see outside

Cool breezes blowing in the window

Carrying with it the faint sweet scent of them

The wall kept growing higher

Higher, higher, till one morning, no sun

The breeze stopped, blocked from my smoldering skin

But I am safe like the flowers that no-longer grow

Safe from what? Safe from whom?

Safe to die alone.
