Still

Still

A Chapter by Unclouded Eyes
"

Thoughts of the last standing.

"

Prism faceted visions of songs once felt

Tasting note for note the past

Energies expanding behind blind eyes

Senses commanding more from memory

Feelings embraced, held by time

Tech-no buzz filled ears, bouncing

I loved it all and I remember

Still.

Walking hand in hand beneath tall trees

Up the winding path of times cherished

Scented touches from warm grass

Avalanche of blond-red hair flowing

Like the stream down from the top

Cherry stained t-shirt flashes, memories

Fluttering on the wings of butterflies

Still.

I still live here, remembered by those now past

Ghost the friends of youth, freed from life

Oh, to join once again the gangs I loved

Whose hearts were broken, and mine taken

To fields not seen yet by these eyes

Waiting with greater impatience the reunion

But time continues and my heart beats

Still.

Heavy sigh! The melancholy of the nostalgia in this write brought me back to New Jersey where I grew up. When I left Jersey, a friend of mine gave me a plaque that read, "she who stays misses more than she who leaves" and I believe your poem proves that. You can't go home again....except in your memories. The longing for those you loved and laughed with is palpable in every line. The imagery in vivid in this well written poem. A pleasure to read.
