Ageless Heart

Ageless Heart

A Poem by Unclouded Eyes
"

Time's changes can bring memories.

"

Where are the joys of yester-year?

When fairies played in our garden

When tree imps frolicked on the limbs

And elves came to our door for tea.

It was all so simple then on the porch swing

Watching the bluebirds bathe in the pond

Listening to the frogs and cricket songs

Holding hands was a common thing then

Catfish came when called for their meal

And the bass did leap to see us standing by

Dreams were real then and reality was dream-like

Cut-off jeans and tie-dyed t-shirts formal wear

“Good-mornings” were followed by kisses sweet

And “Good-byes” brought yearnings to stay

Why is this house once a home feeling cold?

And tending the yard now a chore, laborious

I still remember the light in your eyes

This brought the song to my heart

I just don’t tell you how I feel anymore

Oh, how I long for those Yester-years.
