~after twilightA Poem by Katherine WyattI remember your dreams and how they ripened into my own reveries, a touch of stardust glistening into all that we traced in the sands of our wanting
I remember the tracing of your lips and their soft on my fingertips, and how the pigment was so different from my own, lingering there with such exquisite fascination
dreams die as love is fickle and you danced far from me
The membranes on our hearts peel back as we release butterflies whose wing we dare not touch, lest by grasping we obliterate their ability to fly, and we learn that wild things must remain liberated
Feral creatures coaxed in gentle glow of soft emanations feed from our hands then scurry from perceived shadows , they grace us with fleeting moments, insights into riding lightning
We extend a hand out in the glow with wonder… allow thunder to caress our essence never closing out fingers around the crashing echo of clouds
leaving what belongs to midnight lingering suspended.. we glimpse another reality at the crossroad of twilight…
Fading into a new daybreak we return to the mundane….. wiser for the seeing….. yet never again feeling completely fulfilled
