~crystalline saline

~crystalline saline

A Poem by Katherine Wyatt

held within

...the crystalline

fractured facets

of a singular

      .....teardrop

is the birthing

      of aspirations

      ...endurance..

          ..entwined in

    ...mourning

.. vows that dripped

  ...off callow lips

making promises

...to the dead

 ....upon the funerary boxes

recapitulated with

 ....carelessness

to the living

...broken

..mere tokens

of passing whim

...this saline

..screams of

..uninvited desolation

..the depths of which

   ...where previously

        ... unknown

     ..this teardrop

... has a voice

...of its own

..that will not stop

.. it is defiance

...non-compliance

... with arid dry lands

..and hungry ghosts

....that skim the sidelines

..shaking chains

     .......of vestiges that remain

                ....in impotence..

...screeching resistance

.. oceans

..ponds of creation

...given unto the earth

       ...this liquid saline

..born of strife

    ..is the laboring pains

...of re-birthing

                 ....new life

I am the song the trees whisper in the wind. I am the strength of the mighty mountains. I am the song of the birds in the morn. I am always being reborn. I am a traveler in and out of space and time... more..
