TheTroll

In the abyss developed

the covetous and uncomely

...tortured by the green-eyed begrudging

..... attitude always doubting, guarded,

...weak and hardened

....pitiful..and begging pity

Found a brand new city......

Desiring to be admired and held in high esteem

Did play the masquerade where it did dance and sing

...and while the townspeople  applauded in admiration

Was hidden one who  in sad abhorrence viewed the abomination

in caverns hidden in the deep

Did secretly sleep ... the truth in whispered word of convulsion

    observing in loathing and revulsion...

For the prince was but a troll

Empty, void and puffed with self-agrandizing intent

.....hidden fro the towns people..

loveless, jealous and

       ..... impotent....

Whew... A lot of words, a lot of images. The vocabulary of this poem is a little overwhelming at first. The thing about a rhyming poem, is that it needs to flow in a pretty nice way to be really successful. (in most cases) After the first read, I read it again. I really enjoyed the second time through. The images and the metaphor carried through are fantastic. A great poem indeed.
