~I Release You

~I Release You

A Poem by Katherine Wyatt

I release you~
With no anger or regrets
Reluctant guardian for a moment
         Easy to forget
                     Me~  I suppose

I release you~
With prayers that you find
                      all you left behind
all that was your kind~  your kindred
For I was not part of your pack
Yet I observe my impact
      From a distance...with a slight laugh

Although~  I  never captured your soul
(and if all honesty be laid bare-   you never captured mine)
We traveled the road together for a time
Living together.....in different worlds
And it was lovely and fine
        ....at the time.......

And when you left I was in shock
Yet in truth it was best for you to walk...
                           away
And you set me free to rebirth all that is me
So, gratefully~
I release you
     With only fond  memories.....

My heart holds you hostage no longer
You are free to wander
With my prayers on the wind that you will re-find "home"
And that it will not be empty and alone
Unless that is what you desire
My gratitude and blessings to your essence
     I release you...
Now let us be done with all that was once required

I know from experience what a difficult thing this can be to do, so well done on finding such inner strength. This is pretty much my ideal when it comes to splitting from the paths we sometimes share in life. Nothing is forever, as much as we wish it were, and as rock n roll cowboy said; this is a very mature way to handle it, a brilliant example to set and a damn good poem too, take care, spence

What a mature way to handle losing love, this is true grace. What a beautiful piece of writing.

I am the song the trees whisper in the wind. I am the strength of the mighty mountains. I am the song of the birds in the morn. I am always being reborn. I am a traveler in and out of space and time... more..
