NanaA Poem by ButterflyjeanAlthough probably not my best, this poem is emotional for me.She comes alive for me again As I look at the old picture. Raven curly hair surrounding her face.
A blue cotton dress with little, Pink flowers surround her soft body As she sits at the picnic table, watching me.
My dad walks through the park behind Nana, Probably to see mom, but I'm too busy To notice with my yellow, tin pale and blue shovel.
The navy blue swimsuit with white polka dots Hug my chubby two-year-old body. A yellow hat protects my fine hair from the sun.
She is looking at me with tenderness. Her round hands are waiting to help me Put the soft dirt into my pale.
She wears my favorite smile, The smile that locks away secrets but We're the only two who know they exist.
My brother was too late to meet you. My sister will never know your sweetness. The cancer took you away.
I put Nana back in her box, holding back tears I still can't figure it out. I only knew her for two years. © 2008 ButterflyjeanReviews
