STAND UP PROUD AND BE YOU I SPEAK TO THE TEENS I'VE BEEN THERE TOO
SPEAK UP LOUD AND BE TRUE DON'T MAKE COPIES OF WHAT THEY DO MAKE YOUR MOTHER PROUD OF YOU DON'T BE A PART OF THE CROWD OF THE FOOL
STAND UP PROUD AND BE YOU I SPEAK TO THE TEENS I'VE BEEN THERE TOO
MAKE A'S AND NOT BABIES WITH YOUR SO CALLED "BOO" YOU'RE JUST A BABY DON'T RAISE ANOTHER YOU TAKE THE LEAD AND TEACH YOUR FRIENDS A THING OR TWO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING STUPID AND BEING COOL
STAND UP PROUD AND BE YOU I SPEAK TO THE TEENS I'VE BEEN THERE TOO
The reality of that statement hits like a ton of bricks. Children having children face such harder lives...not having a fair chance to mature into that responsibility. You speak the words of a true leader. You dont simply tell your intended listeners what to do, but you equip them with the tools needed to make good decisions. This poem is reminiscent of throwback Hip Hop, back before street credibility was quintessential and wisdom was not detrimental to one's reputation in the mainstream. It brings back memories of when I was a kid and the conscious side of MC Lyte spoke to me. You Rocked it.
Interesting message, always nice to see something a little different. My only problem is the rhyme 'YOU'RE JUST A BABY DON'T RAISE ANOTHER YOU' - the you at the end seems only to be there to rhyme. Which is a little breaking of the flow.
Other than that. It's a cool message and a decent poem. Thanks :)
A hard world for our kids. They need our attention and love. We must be the teacher and the people they will come for help and answers. I like the direction and desire of this poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.
