I SPEAK TO MY TEENS

I SPEAK TO MY TEENS

A Poem by EMMIE

STAND UP PROUD AND BE YOU
I SPEAK TO THE TEENS
I'VE BEEN THERE TOO

SPEAK UP LOUD AND BE TRUE
DON'T MAKE COPIES OF WHAT THEY DO
MAKE YOUR MOTHER PROUD OF YOU
DON'T BE A PART OF THE CROWD OF THE FOOL

STAND UP PROUD AND BE YOU
I SPEAK TO THE TEENS
I'VE BEEN THERE TOO

MAKE A'S AND NOT BABIES WITH YOUR SO CALLED "BOO"
YOU'RE JUST A BABY DON'T RAISE ANOTHER YOU
TAKE THE LEAD AND TEACH YOUR FRIENDS A THING OR TWO
KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING STUPID AND BEING COOL

STAND UP PROUD AND BE YOU
I SPEAK TO THE TEENS
I'VE BEEN THERE TOO

The adult should also listen to your clarion call.
Our children are surrounded by fake models who misguide through all kinds of media.
Your motivational call may inspire some teens now.
To be effective we have to work together in a concerted manner.
Thanks for presenting such a lovely piece.

Another poem to be read OUT loud. Nice format for the message, love the way you came back several times to remind us "I Speak To The Teens"... Also I know this is a serious subject you break down on us here but I had to smile when you wrote: "MAKE A'S AND NOT BABIES WITH YOUR SO CALLED "BOO"' Enjoyed the piece, poetess

Thank you!
Cool. I'm not crazy enough to be a parent or a husband, thank God. I've seen enough married women to avoid wanting one for myself. I couldn't be a parent--not ever

Some wise words for the younger generation here. You supply a message to the teens that real identity has power and that their minds have power. That us such an important thing to remember in our society. It moves so fast and their is so much pressure to conform. You left some very important words here.

Yes Emmie, wow... loved it! A great lesson for all teens, we both have been there, really a great message here! After years, when they reach our age, they maybe shall remember your words. Thank you!

I wish that this was instilled into youth from the time that they are small children and then inforced even more as teens. We would probably have a lot more well rounded and over all better human beings. Better adults to make decisions for our today and our tomorrow. It is hard to be you sometimes even as you get older because of the stupid media and our tendency to beat ourselves up. It is a lot worse however for teenagers because their confidence is pretty much based off of what their peers think of them. Their confidence tends to be more fragile. If everyone was taught this instead of feeding into the mainstream then we would live in a much better world :) Bravo for writing this.

Amen to every word of this! I have three teens in my nest still. Luckily not too many screw ups yet (that I know about of course).
