I LOST HIM

He takes my hand and he says let's go
To the store we go
Gentle hands brush my piggy tails

But today tears fall...

Ice cream for my girl
A strawberry and chocolate swirl
Little eyes look up at this caring face
Aged but beautiful nonetheless

But today tears fall...

Not for "my girl"! Not for "my girl"! 
The little mouth says
Ice cream for me! Not for "the girl"!  
I want that ice cream yummy swirl! 

But today tears fall...

Well, you are my girl!
You silly little pearl
Come take my hand
Let's play candy land

But today tears fall...

The best friend ever
The caregiver
The story teller
He is my protector

But today tears fall...

Wrinkled lines tell of hard times
White hairs show time has passed
When this old soul smiles
The sun shines 

But today tears fall...

Today the smile is no more
Today it rains it pours
Today is dark and cloudy

And the tears keep falling...

I'm so sorry. I can't fathom the sorrow of my best friend dying no matter what age. I can only imagine that it feels like losing abit of your soul. However, do keep praying. I will prove as theraputic as writing poetry.

Very sad, I am sorry for your loss. I remember when I lost my grandpa. He and I were very close, I was very important to him and he to me. He always had surprises for me and made it to all my birthday parties. I collapsed in tears at his funeral. It's hard to lose a family member, but time heals all wounds, and he will always be in your heart.

It must be hard to be the little girl left behind. The memories will always be there, the ice cream cones and the trips to the store. It's easy to see you put all your heart into this piece. It's a wonderful tribute to a wonderful person.
